What students and teachers say
Real feedback from students and educators using StudyPulse to improve their results.
I wish this existed when I did VCE. I wasted so much time figuring out mistakes, but StudyPulse does it instantly. The mark breakdowns are exactly what you need to improve. Would've saved me hours of stress.
AbbyStudent, Mount Scopus
Honestly the best study tool I've used for VCE, the AI marking is insanely helpful and the mark breakdowns make it easy to see where I can improve. Definitely recommend for anyone trying to up their study scores!
ElliottStudent, Carey Grammar
Extremely impressed with the AI feedback, the mark breakdowns are so helpful. I actually don't know how you made it so effective and there is nothing to improve in my books. All the UI is amazing.
HenryStudent, Camberwell High School
I haven't seen anything like this before. The feedback is detailed, and it actually tells me what to fix. This is going to be so helpful for my 3/4 subjects this year.
DanielStudent, Trinity Grammar
StudyPulse has completely changed how I prepare for SACs. Instead of guessing what the examiner wants, I get specific feedback on every answer. My marks have gone up in every subject since I started using it.
SarahStudent, Year 12
The essay marker is a game changer for English. Students submit their analytical essays and get detailed feedback on structure, evidence use, and metalanguage in seconds. It's like having an extra teacher in the room.
Ms. RichardsonTeacher, VCE English
My students used to wait days for me to return practice exams. Now they get instant feedback on every question through StudyPulse. I can see from the dashboard exactly who needs help, and my marking load has dropped significantly.

StudyPulse supports NCEA for Year 11, Year 12, Year 13. Questions and mark schemes are specific to each level so you're always practising the right material for your exams.
NCEA awards credits for individual Achievement Standards and Unit Standards rather than giving a single exam score. Each standard is worth a set number of credits (typically 3–6). To earn an NCEA certificate at each level, you need 60 credits at that level or above, plus 20 co-requisite credits in Literacy/Te Reo Matatini and Numeracy/Pāngarau (which only need to be completed once across all levels). Credits are assessed as Not Achieved (N), Achieved (A), Merit (M), or Excellence (E).
If you gain 50 or more credits at Merit level (or a mix of Merit and Excellence) across your NCEA level, you receive a certificate endorsed with Merit. If you gain 50 or more credits at Excellence, you receive a certificate endorsed with Excellence. Course endorsements also exist: you earn one by gaining 14 or more credits at Merit or Excellence in a single subject within one year, with at least 3 credits from externally assessed and 3 from internally assessed standards.
University Entrance is a separate award from your NCEA certificate and is the minimum requirement to enrol at a New Zealand university. You need: NCEA Level 3 with at least 14 credits in each of three approved subjects; a minimum of 10 Literacy credits at Level 2 or above (5 in Reading, 5 in Writing); and a minimum of 10 Numeracy credits at Level 1 or above. Meeting UE does not guarantee a place – competitive programmes also require a sufficient rank score.
Your rank score is calculated from your best 80 credits at Level 3 or higher, across a maximum of five approved subjects (capped at 24 credits per subject). Excellence credits earn 4 points, Merit credits earn 3 points, and Achieved credits earn 2 points. The maximum possible rank score is 320 (80 credits x 4 points). Universities use rank scores to select students for limited-entry programmes – for example, the University of Auckland requires rank scores of 150+ for competitive degrees like Engineering or Health Sciences.
The NCEA Change Programme, phased in from 2024, reduced the number of Achievement Standards per subject and made each standard larger and more integrated. NCEA is now a 60-credit qualification at each level (down from 80), plus the mandatory Literacy and Numeracy co-requisite that only needs to be completed once. The reforms aim to encourage deeper learning, reduce assessment overload, and better incorporate mātauranga Māori across the curriculum.
Internal assessments are set and marked by your school teachers throughout the year – they can include portfolios, research projects, practical work, and in-class tests. External assessments are end-of-year exams or portfolios marked by NZQA. Most subjects have a mix of both. Internally assessed standards are moderated by NZQA to ensure consistency across schools. Both types of credits contribute equally to your NCEA certificate, endorsements, and rank score.
