What students and teachers say

Real feedback from students and educators using StudyPulse to improve their results.

I wish this existed when I did VCE. I wasted so much time figuring out mistakes, but StudyPulse does it instantly. The mark breakdowns are exactly what you need to improve. Would've saved me hours of stress.

Abby Student, Mount Scopus

Honestly the best study tool I've used for VCE, the AI marking is insanely helpful and the mark breakdowns make it easy to see where I can improve. Definitely recommend for anyone trying to up their study scores!

Elliott Student, Carey Grammar

Extremely impressed with the AI feedback, the mark breakdowns are so helpful. I actually don't know how you made it so effective and there is nothing to improve in my books. All the UI is amazing.

Henry Student, Camberwell High School

I haven't seen anything like this before. The feedback is detailed, and it actually tells me what to fix. This is going to be so helpful for my 3/4 subjects this year.

Daniel Student, Trinity Grammar

StudyPulse has completely changed how I prepare for SACs. Instead of guessing what the examiner wants, I get specific feedback on every answer. My marks have gone up in every subject since I started using it.

Sarah Student, Year 12

The essay marker is a game changer for English. Students submit their analytical essays and get detailed feedback on structure, evidence use, and metalanguage in seconds. It's like having an extra teacher in the room.

Ms. Richardson Teacher, VCE English

My students used to wait days for me to return practice exams. Now they get instant feedback on every question through StudyPulse. I can see from the dashboard exactly who needs help, and my marking load has dropped significantly.

StudyPulse supports VCE for Year 11, Year 12. Questions and mark schemes are specific to each level so you're always practising the right material for your exams.
VTAC takes your best English result plus your next three best scaled study scores, then adds 10% of your fifth and sixth best results if you studied those subjects. That combined aggregate is then ranked against every student in your age group nationally to produce your ATAR. A study score of 30 is the statewide average for any given subject – your ATAR is a separate percentile rank between 0.00 and 99.95.
VTAC scales raw study scores up or down based on how academically strong the cohort taking each subject is. If a subject is predominantly taken by high-achieving students, it tends to scale upward – the reasoning being that a 35 in that subject represents more academic ability than a 35 in a subject with a weaker cohort. Historically, Specialist Mathematics, Latin, Classical Studies, Chemistry, Physics, and English Language have scaled upward. Further Mathematics typically scales flat or slightly down. Scaling shifts every year with the cohort, so past data is a guide only.
Your best English result is compulsory, then your next three best scaled scores are added in full. If you study a fifth or sixth subject, 10% of each of those scaled scores is added on top. Subjects beyond six don't count. This means extra subjects provide a safety net – but your four best always drive the result.
SACs contribute to your final study score for each subject, which then feeds into your ATAR. Specifically, your school-assessed coursework (SACs) and your end-of-year exam are moderated together to produce your raw study score. VCAA then statistically moderates school assessments to account for differences between schools – so your SAC marks are adjusted relative to how your school's cohort performs in exams.
Medicine at Melbourne or Monash typically requires 97–99+ plus a UCAT score. Law at the same universities usually sits around 96–98. Commerce, engineering, and science degrees vary widely – from around 70 at regional universities to 95+ at Melbourne. Nursing tends to sit around 65–80 depending on the institution. Cut-offs shift slightly every year, so always check current VTAC course entry requirements directly.
Your study score from that subject will be recorded by VCAA, but your ATAR won't be calculated until you complete your full VCE in Year 12. The Unit 3/4 result carries over and is included in the ATAR calculation alongside your Year 12 results.
