I wish this existed when I did VCE. I wasted so much time figuring out mistakes, but StudyPulse does it instantly. The mark breakdowns are exactly what you need to improve. Would've saved me hours of stress.
AbbyStudent, Mount Scopus
Honestly the best study tool I've used for VCE, the AI marking is insanely helpful and the mark breakdowns make it easy to see where I can improve. Definitely recommend for anyone trying to up their study scores!
ElliottStudent, Carey Grammar
Extremely impressed with the AI feedback, the mark breakdowns are so helpful. I actually don't know how you made it so effective and there is nothing to improve in my books. All the UI is amazing.
HenryStudent, Camberwell High School
I haven't seen anything like this before. The feedback is detailed, and it actually tells me what to fix. This is going to be so helpful for my 3/4 subjects this year.
DanielStudent, Trinity Grammar
StudyPulse has completely changed how I prepare for SACs. Instead of guessing what the examiner wants, I get specific feedback on every answer. My marks have gone up in every subject since I started using it.
SarahStudent, Year 12
The essay marker is a game changer for English. Students submit their analytical essays and get detailed feedback on structure, evidence use, and metalanguage in seconds. It's like having an extra teacher in the room.
Ms. RichardsonTeacher, VCE English
My students used to wait days for me to return practice exams. Now they get instant feedback on every question through StudyPulse. I can see from the dashboard exactly who needs help, and my marking load has dropped significantly.

UAC calculates your ATAR from 2 units of English (compulsory) plus your best 8 additional units of scaled HSC marks, for a maximum aggregate of 500. That aggregate is ranked against your entire NSW age group – not just students who sat the HSC – to produce a percentile between 0.00 and 99.95. From 2025, all subjects with an HSC exam are eligible for ATAR inclusion, including most vocational subjects that were previously Category B.
NESA moderates your internal school assessment marks against how your school's cohort performs in the external exam – this is how two students with the same internal rank at different schools can end up with different HSC marks. UAC then scales the final HSC marks across subjects so they're comparable. Subjects taken by academically stronger cohorts tend to scale upward. In 2025, the median ATAR in NSW was 70.75.
Internal school assessments make up 50% of your final HSC mark in most subjects. Crucially, NESA aligns your school's internal assessment marks to match how your cohort performed in the external exam – so your rank within your school matters as much as your raw mark. If your school's cohort performs strongly in the exam, your internal marks are moderated upward.
A Band 6 means you achieved a mark of 90 or above in a 2-unit subject (or E4 in an Extension course). It's the highest performance band in the HSC. Band 6 results contribute to your overall HSC aggregate score, which feeds into your ATAR – so yes, Band 6 results drive ATAR outcomes. Schools are often ranked by their 'success rate,' which measures the percentage of exam entries that achieve Band 6 or E4.
You need a minimum of 10 units including at least 2 units of English to be eligible for an ATAR. Your ATAR is then calculated from those 2 English units plus your best 8 additional units. Most students study 10–12 units total, giving some buffer if one subject doesn't go to plan.
Medicine at UNSW or Sydney typically requires 99+ plus UCAT. Law usually sits around 96–99. Nursing ranges from around 65 to 85 depending on the university. Engineering and commerce at the sandstone universities generally require 85–95. Check the current UAC course entry requirements for the exact cut-offs – they shift annually based on demand.
